1.How to check your computer IP address? Give me several ways on how to do it.

Method 1: Finding IP address using control panel (Windows)

Step 1: Search “View network connections” in the Windows search bar.


Step 2: Double click your active connections.

Step 3: Click “Details” and the IP address is beside the “IPv4 Address”.

Method 2:

Run cmd.exe and type ipconfig.


2. How are we going to setup static IP configuration?

Step 1: Search “View network connections” in the Windows search bar.

Step 2: Right click your active connections and go to "Properties".

Step 3: Click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and go to "Properties"

Step 4: Click "Use the following IP address" and enter the IP address in the "Subnet mask".

3. When do we need to setup static IP configuration?

- Setting up a home file server

- Adding a second router to a network

- Sharing a printer over a network

4. Do you know the type of UTHM IP configuration? Is it static or dynamic?

UTHM IP configuration: 103.31.34.251

UTHM uses both static and dynamic. UTHM Wi-Fi uses dynamic IP configuration to assign IP address to all connected devices to the Network whereas their web server uses static IP configuration.

5. What is static IP?

Static IP is IP address that is assigned to a device and could not be change.

6. What is dynamic IP? When do we need to use dynamic IP?

Dynamic IP address is IP address that an ISP lets you use temporarily. It is more convenient to use for home networks.

7. By using two IP addresses, show me how to configure a simple network (Consist of Computer A and Computer B). Show me step by step.

Step 1: Connect both computers; Computer A and Computer B, to a LAN cable or Wi-Fi.

Step 2: Click to "Control Panel" -> "Network and Internet" -> "Network and Sharing Center".

Step 3: Click on option "Change Adapter Setting" in the upper-left side of the window.

Step 4: Select both the Wi-Fi connection and the Ethernet connection and Right-click the Wi-Fi connections.

Step 5: Click on "Bridge Connections".
